.flv is the filetype for the files you see when watching video clips from places like YouTube. It is possible to save these files on your computer to play again later. To find out how to do this take a look at Saving Video Clips

So here's another free FLV file player :)
I seem to have trouble getting a programme to keep playing .flv files throughout the years ie. one programme will work fine for a year and then stop working so I move on to another and it stops working. In the past I have used AnyFLVplayer and MediaPlayerClassic which comes with Windows Essential Codec Pack. Today I got sick of so many .flv files that I save lately not working so I went looking and came across this Applian FLV Player which is doing the job well.

Applian FLV Player is fast and has no clutter. It has no other bells and whistles, it just plays the files. Yay! Applian FLV Player installs as the default programme to play .flv files so when you open an flv file it will open in ApplianFLVplayer. Alternatively you can open ApplianFLVplayer from the start menu and you will get the following window pop up to show you how you can open files.

After opening a video clip you will see some buttons for changing the window size (see the first screenshot above) as well as an Info button which will provide you with information about the currently playing video clip. Also available is a Settings button which allows you to change a few options.

Other things you can do with this programme include drag and drop multiple files, play URLs and streams or simply click a button to play full screen. It will remember it's position on your screen at next launch, remember audio settings at next launch and there is optional video smoothing for fast CPU's.
