Worker bee #2: I don't think they would kick us outside during a tornado.

Wow, is this host good or what. Aussie Bob who owns and runs AussieHost.com has been my saviour of both my site and my sanity over the last couple of days. I was starting to think that all hosts are greedy theives. Here's a bit about what has been happening here - I'll try to keep it brief but that is not one of my good points.

Back in about 2004 I started a website with PagesGarden. All went great for years and then all of a sudden in August 2007 the email stopped working and then my site was always down. I found a new host and moved after getting no reply to a mulittude of emails to PagesGarden. I sent of yet another email cancelling my account but in September they went and took another 12 months of funds out of my bank account.

So all was good with my new host, MDwebhosting, but only for a short time. In the last month or two (Feb 08) I have noticed more and more downtime and my webstatistics were never up to date and I'd have to ask them to fix that over and over. I also had to repeatedly ask them to change folder permissions as I never seemed to be allowed to do it. In the last couple of weeks it has taken them at least 2 days to respond to these requests and I mostly did not receive a reply saying it had been done, I'd just discover it when I kept rechecking.

On about the 12th of March my site went totally down with some weird message which I could not change to let people know what was going on. That lasted about 40 hours when finally the home page started working again but most of the links didn't.

In the meantime I did some quick searching around and found AussieHost.com. I signed up for the rest of this month and Bob moved my site over to his server as part of the new customer service. The main problem then was that MD would not allow me access to my domain name servers to point afewbeers.com to AussieHost's server. After a lot of effort by both of us Aussie Bob found a way I could get in to change my nameservers. I went to the name registrar's (ENOM in this case as MD is a reseller) site and logged in to http://access.enom.com/ and changed my dns. All I have to do now is transfer my domain name registration to someone I trust.

So thankyou Aussie Bob and AussieHost for saving the day and for all your excellent help!
