Overheard

Angry parent: So what you are telling me is you know nothing about how my son's face got bruised.
Teacher: No, ma'am. Like I said, it happened at recess. I am on my lunch during their recess.
Angry parent:So you weren't there? You didn't see nothing?
Teacher: I did not see anything. I was not there. I was on my lunch.
Angry parent: So you wasn't there? You is his teacher but you's not with him all day?
Teacher: No ma'am. If I were with these students all day, I would kill myself.

Check out the price per litre or kg of some items. It's outrageous.

I've been going to do this for a couple of years but just never got round to it. I believe that the supermarkets here now have to start doing it, providing a price comparison per litre or kg on evry item in their shops. Well here are some of the ones I've thought about over the years.

It all started when I went to buy a bottle of Murine eye drops. I was gobsmacked at the price for a tiny 15ml bottle. That was a few years ago and I don't know the current price but last week I bought a bottle of something else. They are a basic, liquid tears type eye drops and I bought the cheapest bottle in the chemist at $4.95 for 15ml. They did go up as high as about $15. Anywya, at $5/bottle this works out to be $330 per litre!!

Next we have the mouse/rat poison. We have had a mouse plague here lately and our neighbour across the creek bought some poisoned wheat. Today's price for wheat is nearly $340/tonne. He worked it out himself that if he were to buy a tonne of poisoned wheat it would cost $30,000!!! That's mighty expensive poison, packaging and shipping.
